Handball has always been a vibrant sport in St. Louis, at indoor courts in local public gymnasiums (YMCA/YMHA) and outdoor courts such as Forest Park, Francis Park and at various local firehouses. Just over 39 years ago, the St. Louis Hinder Club charter members located two indoor courts (in the basement of the National Guard Armory in midtown St. Louis) and founded the St. Louis Hinder Club.
At that time, members contributed their time, effort and the skills of their trades to build various amenities, including the steam room, locker room, whirlpool, and showers. Through the years, the membership grew to as many as 200 and supported youth groups such as Missouri State University Handball, the program at nearby St. Louis University and the league’s popular youth program which attracted players of all ages from diverse backgrounds.
In June of 2010 the St. Louis Hinder Club moved to its current location at 951 W Outer Rd in Arnold Missouri. Tradition then repeated itself, as once again the membership has pitched in a ton of time, effort, and generosity to make this place our own. The new and improved Hinder Club includes six handball courts, a full workout facility, hot tub, steam room, cold plunge, a player's lounge to relax, and many more amenities.
Come out for a game and see what we have to offer!
